ABOUT THE TAILOR NETWORK

FASHION WITH PURPOSE

"The idea for The Tailor Network came to me while working on a project in Asia and getting my first tailored suit.  I was able to select the fabrics I wanted, determine core design elements, and the fit …..  I could not believe the difference!  From that minute I was sold, and I knew I could never buy an off-the-rack suit again.  Wearing a tailored suit feels totally different: more comfort, better quality, and a totally different body experience.

I was wondering why I had to travel to Asia to have this experience at a competitive price. In Europe we have such a strong tailoring culture and history. I remember growing up with every town having its own tailor.

I started looking into the options for additional tailored suits in Europe, I couldn't find anything price competitive that wasn’t made in Asia (I have seen working conditions in those factories).

I wanted to create something that would allow people to wear unique clothes at a fair price, that would bring work back to local communities, and have real impact. When we started working on the details for The Tailor Network, we soon realized that we could extend our benefit beyond just bringing work back to existing tailors, we could create opportunities for those who struggle to find meaningful income due to their low education – this is how we came to the idea of Tailor Empowerment.  Read more

What makes me proud of my team is that not only is our business model built on our values, but our team is also aligned with our values:  kindness, assuming goodness, sustainability, and excellence."   - Michael Bist, Founder & CEO

I believe I have the most fun job in the company, because every day I get to interact with all the great people who believe in our mission, and help bring our fantastic suits to you.

We couldn't do it without our incredible support network that includes our talented tailors,  the determined students in the transition homes, our own team (which is beyond words), to our impressive corporate sponsors and evangelists...  people who want to contribute their personal time to making The Tailor Network a success.

And when all of this becomes too much, my little daughter is grounding me in seconds when she says “daddy, come play with my stuffed animals,” and for that time everything else is irrelevant.

I've had a 20+ year career in design, and in most recent years leading teams on product development projects.  In parallel with my design career, I've had a love affair with all things style and fashion (I've been sewing / costuming since I was a child),  which makes The Tailor Network a great fit.

I am also a fine artist, comedian, fitness enthusiast and mom of two grown up girls, both talented musicians.

These days I am focused on enriching my friendships.  My favorite book is The Four Agreements.

I put the "social" into this social venture. My responsibility is to build up Tailor Empowerment Foundation which provides sewing courses for underprivileged people, helping them to break the circle of inherited poverty.

After working as a political journalist for more than 8 years, my job at Tailor Empowerment marks my switch into the private/ business sector. Alongside my years in journalism, I have worked in several charitable NGOs, mostly in homeless care.  Currently I´m deeply involved in two projects which work with children in state care, and one NGO which is focused on harm reduction amongst prostitutes and within the gay community.

Aside from that I spend my spare time as a dancehall dancer, leading my own crew.

I am in charge of the pattern creation for all of the garment designs at The Tailor Network.

Throughout my life I've worked in clothing production and have become an expert in creating patterns.  Years ago they were made from scratch using paper.  Of course now its done digitally.

I continue to teach for the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, to tailors who are studying to take their “master craftsman” exam in tailoring.

In addition to my work, I am passionate about sharing information about my beautiful home country, Mongolia. I honour and live my traditional heritage, and I Iove to welcome family and friends, who come visit me in my traditional yurt.
